Shana Bell, Senior Counsel

Shana L. Bell is a Senior Counsel with West PLC. Shana is a dynamic attorney with a background in securities, corporate governance, complex corporate financial matters, compliance, and due diligence. Shana joins West following turns with a large public company, a national law firm, a boutique law firm, a diversified net lease public REIT, and a national leader in alternative investment solutions. 

Shana began her career as a Due Diligence Analyst with a national leader in alternative investment solutions, supporting the legal department in the management of both public and private securities offerings distributed through the company, including real estate investment trusts, mutual funds, private placements, and business development companies. Initiating her ongoing study of securities regulations, rules, and guidance including as applicable to traded, registered non-traded, and unregistered exempt securities offerings.

Following law school, Shana joined a boutique firm in the fall of 2015, where she practiced exclusively third-party diligence on complex alternative investment securities on behalf of independent broker/dealer and investment advisor clients.

After four great years, Shana joined a nationally ranked AM Law 50 law firm as an Associate, her practice focused on general corporate matters, mergers and acquisitions, fund formations, and investment transactions, advising both public and private companies on governance matters and regulatory compliance, including the Adviser’s Act and Investment Company Act compliance. 

Shana was subsequently recruited to join the legal department at a Fortune 250 company where she was the Director of Legal- Securities and Governance. In this role Shana was the lead governance and securities attorney for the $15B public company, overseeing securities filings, board governance, and general corporate matters.

Shana received her B.A. in psychology from Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida; J.D. from Florida A&M University College of Law in Orlando, Florida; and LL.M from the American University Washington College of Law in Washington, D.C.
